SLEIC researchers Haoyun Zhang, Anna Eppes, and Dr. Michele Diaz have recently published a paper on Cognitive, Affective and Behavioral Neuroscience. This paper investigates the extent to which language production and cognitive control interact and their neural bases, and how task difficulty modulates these effects, using functional MRI. They found that right superior and inferior frontal and left supramarginal gyri were sensitive to increased task difficulty during both language production and response inhibition. Additionally, increased activation in sensory-motor regions, such as precentral and postcentral gyri, was associated with better behavioral performance, in both successful language production and successful response inhibition. Nice job!
